2021 season

Every year I make a short video of my season with a few observations. I do it more for me and just creating memories. It’s 10 minutes long and may not interest most of you so I understand not watching. But my summary for 2021 is this. The bird numbers were good. The dog work was very good and I got the boys out 62 times this year. All locations had good number of birds. If I don’t count January, I had my best shooting season ever. January had a lot of snow and was very cold and got me to thinking about warmer climate in the future when the weather is like that. A few more aches and pains than in the past but not any less enjoyment.

Keep in touch with me and I’ll be letting you know what I find this Spring and Summer. This will be the first time I have posted one of my post season video’s. I just hope it shows the wonderful year that I had.

Thanks for all the interaction this year and keep having fun with those pups.

Hunting has been a favorite past time for me for 55 years but the last twenty five years I have been consumed by chukar hunting and more specifically chukar hunting with fantastic dogs. In this blog I hope to pass on any information I can about chukar hunting but more than anything I want to showcase what will probably be my last two chukar dogs, Jake and Grady. I am 70 years old, Jake is 8 and Grady is 3 and I'm hoping to stay on the chukar mountain until I am 80 when Grady will be fetching my final chukars.

  1. Very impressive pictures of great dogs, pretty country and so many Chukar!! 62 times hunting is amazing. You are a tough mountain man for sure. Inspiring for me! Obviously a great shot as well. Thanks for sharing your season with us. Hope you have a good offseason!

  2. It helps when you live within 120 miles of all of these locations and have access year round. Barb and I will be doing a lot more camping next year on my hunts so I hope we can get together.

  3. I really enjoy your posts. Thanks for the positive outlook and joy you have for this sport. I am located in Southern California and mostly only chase Valley Quail down here. But almost every year I make it up by you to chase those Chukar for a few days, which are one of my favorites. Your posts let me be up there all year!! Thanks again.

  6. I didn’t do a video, but I did do a long post, as I try to at the conclusion of each year. Mine is here:

I enjoyed this blog all year long, and I’m envious of your chukar success.

By the way, I think the other blog I had mentioned was this one:

    https://chukarculture.com/

It was a lot more active, however, when I mentioned it as the author was living in Idaho, which he no longer does.
